Rained Off
I was very disapointed to wake up to horrible rainy weather this morning! Bloody typical, you think spring is here and then you get this, its not fair! Had been planning my big run but really didn't fancy doing it when it was chucking it down. I decided to do my strength training routine this morning instead. I did Davina Body Kick Fit section for 20 mins to warm up, I did feel rather guilty stomping about at 7am on a Saturday morning but my downstairs neighbour had made a proper racket last night, so I didn't feel that guilty ;-) I then did my strength exercises as detailed in my March Training Plan and finished off with a nice bit of stretching. Breakfast was a bowl of porridge made with water topped up with hazelnut and almond rice milk with a scoop of vanilla whey mixed in and then some frozen blueberries mixed as well. I popped it back in the microwave for a few seconds after adding everything in so it was extra hot, delicious!
I then dragged myself into work. Its the first time I've gone in on a Saturday for ages but we just have so much to be getting on with and at least on a Saturday you don't get disturbed with loads of phonecalls etc. I did find it really hard to focus at first but then I managed to get loads done. I stopped at 12 for a quick bite of lunch - a spelt pancake wrap filled with a mix of grated carrot, cashew nut butter, hazelnut nut butter, raisins and sunflower seeds. I had got the idea for the filling from Healthly Tipping Point. It was lush! I also had a pear.
It wasn't long after lunch when my concentration started to go again so I decided to come home and start on my cleaning. It wasn't so much of a spring clean more just a regular clean, but while doing it I made a mental note of all the things that do need doing as part of a proper clean, I just need to figure out when I have time to do them! When I was out with my cuz last night we had a look in a couple of shops and I now have a serious wish list of new stuff for the flat I would like, I love it when the shops get all the new season designs in, I just want to make the flat all spring like ready for Easter.
After I'd done the cleaning I felt in serious need of chilling out. I decided to do my Yogalates today so that I have more time tomorrow to do some leisurely cooking. I did it for an hour and I felt nice and relaxed afterwards. For a mid afternoon snack I had a chopped apple and two chopped nectarines with some greek yoghurt.
For dinner I fried off a couple of turkey steaks and added them to a little pan of gravy while I steamed some brocolli, savoy cabbage and carrots. I did J some sauted potatoes as well to fill him up. I really enjoyed this, its about as close as I get to a more traditional Sunday dinner these days!
I followed it with a big mug of hot chocolate I made using hazelnut and almond rice milk. I warmed the milk in the mircowave while I mixed up a couple of teaspoons of cocoa powder with a little bit of boiling water. When the rice milk was done I just added it to the cocoa powder and mixed. It was lovely and tasted as nice as any hot chocolate you get in a coffee shop, I just wish I'd had some whipped cream to top it with!
Drinks - water, green tea, decaf tea
I really hope that the weather improves tomorrow so I can do my run. If it doesn't I think I'm going to hit the gym and nab a treadmill and try and do my 3 miles on there instead. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow as apart from the run and grocery shopping I have no plans so I can just relax! I'm planning on cooking up a couple of things so that will be fun too. Hope everyones weekend is going well and that your getting better weather than me at the moment! xxx
