Hitting the Toon
Was hoping to get up and do another Saturday run this morning but the weather had other plans for me as it had snowed during the night, and as the pavements around here can be really dodgy when its icey I didn't want to risk it. So for my 'body blitz session I did the kick fit section of Davina Fit DVD followed by my strenght training routine and finished off with the short yoga session from Davina Fit. After this I made myself a big smoothie with frozen blueberries, hazelnut and almond rice milk, natural yoghurt, oats, ground flax and a scoop of vanilla protein powder (plus a bit water to thin it out). It was fab!
For lunch I had carrot and leek soup with an apple plus a sneaky spoon of cashew nut butter (I'm going to have to lock myself out of the cupboard to stop myself from snacking on that stuff!)
I did have plans to visit friends today before hitting the town but they all seem to be coming down with something and cancelled on me, bless them! I wasn't that bothered though as I went and visited my parents and grandma instead which was lovely. While at my mam and dads I had a decaf tea a a jaffa cake.
Then I hit the toon!
It was heaving in town as the match was on and there has been a new section of Eldon Square shopping mall opened so I stuck to the less busy bits and went back there nearer closing time. My hubby works in town so I met him when he finished work. I had a monster shopping spree. I'm going to do a seperate post on the stuff I got. I also discovered a great little health food shop called Almonds and Raisins so I got a few bits and bobs from there as well. While I was out I snacked on a Nakd bar and got this smoothie from Waitrose which was delicious!
As we had been planning on going out for an Italian tonight before our house guests changed their plans we decided to still have pizza at home. My hubby stuck with the frozen kind but I decided to try and make my own healthier version. I used a wholemeal pitta bread, split in two with each slice spread with tomato puree, some fresh mozzarella, red pepper, red onion and rocket. I popped it in the oven at 200 for 10 mins, the base went all lovely and crispy and the cheese melted and toasted. I served it with a lovely big salad.
I can honestly say that I would choose my version over my hubby's frozen pizza any day. For desert I have a bowl of pomegranate seeds
and then we are going to hit the red wine!
Drinks - water, green tea, decaf tea, red wine!
Hoping that the weather is going to improve tomorrow so I can go for a run as I don't want to lose the momentum that I build up from having such an enjoyable run last week.
Anyway, I'm off to hit the red wine! Hope everyones had a good day! xxx
(Hope you've noticed that on the whole my pics are a bit better today, I'm trying to use my camera instead of my iphone for a change! I might even try and get more creative with my photos later in the week!)
