Review: Groupon and the Ocean Rooms Spa Newcastle

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Groupon who very kindly offered me the opportunity to try out a Groupon deal to review here on the blog. I was aware of Groupon but had never looked on the site or checked out what kind of offers they had available.

I started by signing up for their regular emails and browsing through various deals. I’d noticed a few interesting looking options, but when I came across a great looking deal for a Spa treatment and Spa access at The Ocean Rooms, I knew that would be perfect!

In August I’ll be turning the grand old age of 30 and I’m trying to make it a year long celebration ;-) One of my best friends Claire is pregnant and her due date is right around my birthday so its likely that she might not be able to celebrate with me on the day. We’d chatted about doing something else fun together to celebrate and this spa experienced sounded just the thing.

The process of purchasing the Groupon deal was really straightforward and the information we got on the deal was very clear regarding what was included and how to book. We booked ourselves in at the Ocean Rooms Spa which is located within the Hilton Hotel. We wanted to do it at the weekend and because of bookings the only availability we had was either very early or very late. We decided to book in for 8am treatments. I’d never been to the Hilton before and I was very impressed:

The view from the main reception was stunning:

I decided to opt for the Face and Body Sensation treatment which was done with Elemis products. I enjoyed an amazing back and leg massage with oils and hot stones followed by a facial. It was bliss! Claire had a lower leg massage and a manicure. She really enjoyed the leg massage but was not as impressed with the quality of the manicure.

After the treatment we enjoyed the facilities which included a pool, Jacuzzi and steam room. We also got a large jug of herbal tea to slip. It was just so relaxing!

We both really enjoyed the morning, it was fantastic and it was good for us to do something together like that :-)

I think the deal we got through Groupon was excellent value. We didn’t mind having to book in so early as we knew that availability would be limited at the weekend and this was explained within the deal voucher. I do think that there’s probably not as many good deals available in the North East when you compare it what’s on offer to some of the other bigger cities, but there was still some excellent offers. I would certainly be happy to use Groupon again, in fact I’m on the look out for that deal again so I can go along with my Mam later in the year!

Have you ever purchased anything from Groupon? Have you been for a spa treatment before?
