Getting my mojo back
Hi everyone, how’s your weekend been? Hope you’ve had a good one! Shame we’ve had such shocking weather here in North East England at least, although I did enjoy yesterday’s thunder storm!
Well I have to say I feel like a complete fool after letting my ‘poor’ mid week run get to me. Thank you so much to everyone that left me a comment, you gave me a much needed dose of reality! Anyway, one positive that did come out of it was that it made me way more determined to make yesterday morning’s run a good one:
Yep, I got my mojo back! 13.1 miles in 1hr53 average pace 8.38! This is a full 5 minutes faster than my last half marathon and my personal best to date. Chuffed does not even come close! Running a half at these kind of speeds is really just a dream for me and something I honestly never thought I’d ever achieve.
I had fuelled up with several of these new fresh dates:
These are absolutely delicious and melt in your mouth, I love how they have on the box they are good for sports people! I’m glad these come in a big box as they won’t last long! I bought these from my favourite green grocers which I have now discovered have a great discount scheme available. At the rate I go through fruit and veggies I will save a fortune!
Post run I had a really fantastic strawberry peanut butter smoothie:
This included little gem lettuce, frozen strawberries, strawberry hemp protein powder, peanut butter swirl spiru-tein, maca powder, barley grass powder, msm, rice milk, several spoonfuls of crunchy salted peanut butter, ice and the gums for thickness. I topped it with some peanut sauce, freeze dried berries and chocolate chips. Yum, yum!
Lunches have been these big snacky plates:
My raw juice pulp crackers, RAW health crackers, carrot ginger dip, sauerkraut, broad bean dip and huge pile of veggies for dipping.
For dinner last night I decided to use some of the block of vegan Sheese sitting in my fridge almost at its use by date. I made a toasted sheese and red onion ‘toastie’ using a Mountain Bread Corn Wrap (that I bought in Brighton) along with some dehydrated kohl rabi chips and steamed purple sprouting broccoli:
The Sheese was cheddar and chive flavour and tasted more like blue cheese – yuck! It wasn’t too bad and the texture was good for a vegan cheese but I won’t be buying that again! As for the kohl rabi, I got a huge purple one in my organic veg box and after reading that it tasted like a cross between broccoli stem and swede I knew I had to try making chips with it. I just mixed the chips with hemp oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and herbamare and dehydrated for a few hours, serving them warm. They were delicious – slightly sweet and with a great crunch! I had more with my second snack plate lunch today.
Dessert was a bowl of chopped plums and the sweetest greenages with a few squares of The Raw Chocolate Company dark chocolate:
This morning for breakfast I had some overnight oats, cooked last night and cooled, made with scottish oats and 10 grain cereal mixed with strawberries, vanilla stevia and lots of Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter sauce:
So amazing, I love that chocolate hazelnut butter!
This evening for dinner I had so many veggies to use up I made a big pilaf type meal with millet, onion, purple sprouting broccoli, courgette, carrot, spinach, veg stock and some defrosted seitan sausage from the freezer:
I love big one pan meals like this, tastes great and saves on dishes!
Alongside that super run, this weekend has been lovely and pretty relaxing which is just what I needed. I’ve had my best friend and Mam and Dad over today to say hi and drop in birthday cards and pressies ready for Wednesday and I’ve spent more time in the kitchen pottering around making crackers and bread in the dehydrator.
I’m actually really looking forward to next week, I have a quiet work week ahead as well as my birthday on Wednesday. I’m not planning anything special apart from just treating myself to some ‘me’ time!
So glad I found my running mojo, and thanks again for all the encouragement! When was the last time you felt like you ‘lost’ your mojo and what did you do to get it back? Yes I’m a big Austin Powers fan ;-)
Hope you’ve had a great weekend and have a good week ahead!
