WIAW: Spice it up

I just have to quickly begin by saying a big thank you for all the comments on my Self Reflection post. I’m going to be respond to them all soon, I really do have the loveliest readers! I’m so glad that you like those kind of posts and appreciate my honesty because they are not always that easy to write or publish. However as I have always said, I do enjoy writing them and sharing them because I learn a lot about me in the process and from your comments it seems it helps some of you too :-)

Peas and Crayons

It’s back to it today with WIAW! These are my eats and goings on from yesterday.

I got up and it was pitch black. The darker mornings are still taking me by surprise. I did the usual warm water with a squeeze of lemon and apple cider vinegar in water before tucking into a giant plate of fruit:

Sometimes all I crave is just plain, raw, unadulterated fruit. This included blackberries, plums, an apple and a peach. I enjoyed that and then about an hour later I made some eggs:

Two local farm shop eggs scrambled in coconut oil with avocado and sea salt. Still loving this!

I’m trying to reduce my coffee ever so slightly as recently I’ve been finding that its leaving me a little too jittery so instead I made a big chai latte:

That tea is my absolute favourite version of Chai. It’s this Clipper Indian Chai and I used my last two tea bags (reminder to self - buy some more) steeped for 5 minutes and then blended with a cup of unsweetened almond milk and a little stevia. Absolute heaven. I think that chai tea blended with coconut milk ala my fat coffee would taste incredible.

I was able to enjoy a bit of a bigger breakfast eaten over a few hours as I was working from home around a couple of meetings. OOTD:

I went to my meetings, popped to the shops on the way home and got settled back at my little desk. I snacked on a random carrot while I checked emails:

Then I made an epic lunch salad which included cos lettuce, cucumber, yellow pepper, red onion and beetroot topped with some hummus mixed with harissa and some water to thin:

Incredible, I just loved every bite of that salad! As I blogged about yesterday that harissa is delicious and adds a great spiciness to basic hummus.

I cracked on over the afternoon which included a very exciting Skype meeting and then got ready for the gym. For the first time in what feels like forever I just wasn’t hungry! I decided not to force something down and just made myself a Tea Pigs matcha green tea for a bit of a boost:

Then I popped to the gym for some cardio on the machines followed by Body Pump. Dinner was really easy to throw together as I’d made a massive pot of veggie chilli (that recipe doubled but using a can of red kidney beans and a can of cannellini beans) and baked some sweet potatoes at the weekend. While I steamed the broccoli and warmed up the potato and chilli I snacked on another un pictured carrot:

I love that chilli so much as its really easy to make, tastes great and is very healthy. For dessert I had some coconut oil roasted peaches and plums (also made at the weekend) with full fat Greek yoghurt:

I surprised myself again as usually I would have fancied a later evening snack but I just wasn’t hungry. As I’m trying to listen to my body more I’m not forcing it, some days I’m like a bottomless pit so I think it all balances out over time.

After that I finished the day with a herbal tea and another Skype date with my wonderful friend Nathalie followed by watching New Girl with James. It’s my new favourite TV show at the moment, love Zooey Deschanel!

As the title of the post suggests, I’m really enjoying spicy things at the moment! I wasn’t always a spice lover but over the past couple of years I’ve developed a taste for it. It’s an added bonus that chilli is so good for you, can support your immune system and boost metabolism. Spices are also great for making raw foods more ‘warming’ in the colder months. I love a good chilli dark chocolate too!

Do you like spicy things? What are your favourite spices?
