Rachel’s Organic Yoghurt Review
Before Christmas I was very kindly sent some Rachel’s Organic Yoghurt to try out:
I received the following flavours:
- Greek Yoghurt with Honey
- Greek Yoghurt with Coconut
- Greek Yoghurt with Cherry
- Rhubarb Low Fat Yoghurt
- Mango, Pineapple and Passion Fruit Low Fat Yoghurt
- Strawberry with a hint of lime Low Fat Yoghurt
I was very happy to try these varieties out, especially as I want to try and keep to eating organic dairy whenever possible. Rachel’s Organic is one of the fastest growing organic dairies in Britain and sells a range of diary products as well as yoghurt, such as milk, cream and butter. The company also prides itself on its environmental credentials.
I sampled these yoghurts over a few weeks in various meals such as:
Strawberry low fat yoghurt with cherries and almonds
Coconut Greek Yoghurt with sliced apple
Fruit Salad with Honey Greek Yoghurt
Chocolate Cherry ‘Ice Cream’ with Cherry Greek Yoghurt
Rhubarb, Pumpkin and Ginger Dessert
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed all of the flavours but my favourite has to be the Coconut Greek Yoghurt, it was divine! For Greek Yoghurt I would always use Total Greek Yoghurt as the bench mark in terms of the best, and I have to say this came very close, however this is considerably cheaper than Total.
There is a big difference between the Greek Yoghurt and Low Fat Yoghurts. Obviously the Greek Yoghurt is higher calorie and fat than the low fat yoghurts but it is much creamier. The low fat yoghurts contain added sugar, no doubt to improve the taste when the fat has been removed. Personally I would rather go for the fuller fat no extra sugar creamy version! Although these contain higher calories the added fat content means that your more likely to feel full after eating it.
I also think that these are reasonably good value for such a good quality organic product. A large 450ml tub costs between £1.50 and £2.00 and you will often find them on some kind of offer.
Overall these are great products, I will definitely be purchasing them again. My husband loves the strawberry yoghurt, but I will be going for the Greek Style yoghurts in the future when I feel like a treat!
Have you tried Rachel’s Organic Yoghurts before? What did you think?
