NYC Foodie Haul
One of the biggest things I was excited about visiting NYC for was the awesome foodie things I could get my hands on! After reading many US blogs there were loads of products on my wish list.
I visited 5 main shops for this stuff – Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Peanut Butter & Co, Hershey’s and a little health food store on Park Avenue. Here’s what I got:
Amazing Grass, Amazing Meal powder in chocolate, Vega Smoothie Shake and Go in Choc a Lot, Spirutein protein powders in Cookies and Cream and Smores flavours, Spirutein protein powder sachets in Cherries Jubilee and Blueberries and Cream, Amazing Grass Amazing Meal sachet in Pomegranate Mango Infusion
I’m already a big fan of Spirutein and had just ran out of my tub of cookies and cream so I was glad to find that. I’ve also tried the Cherries Jubilee before and loved it. The Smores and Blueberries and Cream flavours should be amazing too! I also picked up a tub of Amazing Grass Amazing Meal in chocolate to try as well as some Vega Shake and Go as I have always wanted to try one of Brendan Braziers products after reading the Thrive Diet
Dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds, candy covered sunflower seeds, chocolate covered mulberries, Hersheys unsweetened cocoa, coconut extract, Nu Naturals Liquid Stevia, guar gum and raw cacao powder
I got the pomegranate and sunflower seeds from Trader Joes – they just sounded wonderful and should make awesome smoothie and porridge toppings! I got the guar gum and cacao powder as my existing powders are almost out. I spotted the chocolate covered mulberries in Whole Foods as well as the Stevia which I have always wanted to try and will probably use in my coffee. I loved the idea of coconut extract for adding to smoothies and porridge too. I have also seen the Hershey’s cocoa powder on blogs and decided to give it a try.
Dark Chocolate Dreams and Dark Chocolate Dreams easy squeeze sachets, Mighty Maple and White Chocolate Wonderful Peanut Butters
What can I say? These are all just awesome! I’ve had the Dark Chocolate Dreams before but have not tried the Mighty Maple or White Chocolate Wonderful. I can’t wait to try these! I also thought the sachets of DCD were an excellent idea for on the go snackage.
Trader Joes Creamy Almond Butter with sea salt, Artisana Coconut Butter, Mara Natha Organic Almond Butter, Justin’s Chocolate Almond Butter, Sunbutter, Trader Joes Roasted Peanut Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds
More nut butters! I love almond butter so just couldn’t resist getting a couple of big jars of the stuff. The Justin’s Chocolate Almond Butter just sounds like heaven. I also had to get a jar of Artisana Coconut Butter to try after seeing it on so many blogs – I tried a few spoonfuls last night and oh my god it is delicious! I also love sunflower seed butter so wanted to stock up with that as well as trying the peanut butter with flaxseed.
Pure bars – Chocolate Brownie, Wild Blueberry and Cherry Cashew, Lara bars, Clif bars, Luna Bars, Justin’s Maple Almond Butter and Peanut Butter sachets
I was especially excited about trying the infamous Lara Bars and I was not disappointed! I have had Luna and Clif Bars before so got a few of those plus some of these Pure Bars which sounded really good. I also got some of the Justin’s nut butter sachets for snacks.
Adora Dark Chocolate Calcium Discs, Ghirardelli 100% Cacao chocolate bar, Mini Reese’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Dagoba Organic Blueberry and Lavender Chocolate bar, Teaccino Herbal Coffee in Chocolate Mint, Starbucks VIA in Vanilla, Scharffen Berger Bittersweet Dark Chocolate Bar, Pink BPA free plastic shake cup
I just couldn’t not buy some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as they are just so lush! I also noticed the Dagoba and Scharffen Chocolate in the Hershey’s store and liked the sound of the Lavender and Blueberry mix. The Adora discs were another blog spotted item. While in Starbucks I noticed the Vanilla VIA and I had heard about the Teecino before so decided to try that as an alternative to my morning coffee fix occasionally! I saw the pink shake cup in Old Navy and just had to get one for drinking my juices out of!
Trader Joes Apple and watermelon dried fruit flakes packets, Braggs Liquid Aminos, Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal,Raw Rosemary Quackers from One Lucky Duck, Raw Cheesy Kale Chips, Trader Joes Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips, I heart NYC mug
I liked the sound of the apple and watermelon flakes for snacks and smoothie toppings. I also thought the Kashi Cereal looked good – I do like my cereals and this has a decent amount of protein in it. I got the Braggs as my existing bottle had ran out and the chocolate chips just looked so good! I got the kale chips as they sounded delicious and although very expensive I just couldn’t help myself in One Lucky Duck and got these raw crackers! I also just couldn’t help buying a NYC mug!
So yes, I have spent a fortune and now have enough nut butter to last me several years, but I am so happy with my haul! One thing on my list that I couldn’t find was Sun Warrior protein powder and as I am running out I have placed an iHerb order instead. In fact a lot of this stuff can be sourced via iHerb so I don’t have to freak out too much when I start running out!
While in NYC I also did lots of clothes shopping too, so I’ll have a post coming up with all of those purchases soon! Then expect lots of living on a budget tips ;-)
Have you tried any of these products before? Any favourites? Which out of these goodies look the best to you?
