Almost 29
Hello again everyone, I’ve been having a lot of fun reading your wishes for the Fairy Hobmother, keep them coming! Here’s a bit of a recap of my week so far…
I kicked off my Monday with a brilliant gym workout. I started with my usual 5k treadmill run doing 0.25 mile ‘lap’ speed intervals. I was quite surprised at how fresh I felt considering the 13 miler I did at the weekend! I also did a further 30 minutes of cardio intervals on the machines and finished off with some abs and core exercises.
Breakfast was the last of a box of Kashi crunch cereal mixed with some Nature’s path mesa sunrise cereal, a chopped apple, frozen blueberries and rice milk. I also had a big mug of my current favourite tulsi tea:
Lunches both yesterday and today have been this simple salad with cos lettuce, carrot, cucumber, sugar snaps, red pepper and some hazelnut tofu:
I also had a bowl of cherries and some grapes today :-) The tofu was nice but I still prefer the basil and smoked sesame seed versions!
Yesterday I tried out a new combo with my snack:
Sugar snaps, red pepper and Clearspring tamari and sesame rice cakes topped with a tahini and black strap molasses spread. I just mixed a tbsp of tahini with a teaspoon of molasses – I got the idea from Raw Living that I have on loan from the Library. The tahini is rich in calcium and the molasses in iron. I find the taste of molasses pretty over powering on its own but mixed with the tahini its much more palatable!
Today I got up and did Yoga for Runners then made a super tasty breakfast:
Corn bread wraps with apple and roasted flax peanut butter. I warmed these up on the grill pan and they tasted so good. I haven’t had a breakfast wrap in far too long!
This evening I hit the gym and was very pleased to see that my Body Pump class had been un cancelled! Luckily they had managed to find a replacement instructor, who was awesome. I did 30 minutes of cardio in the gym followed by my class.
Dinner both evenings have been a tasty Buddha bowl. I had some leftover millet but not enough for two meals so I made up some barley couscous (listening to my own advice for quick to prep carbs!) and combined with a carton of chickpeas, a diced yellow pepper, courgette, red onion and some RAW health kalamata olives, all served up on top of a big pile of steamed greens with shoyu:
I just love olives for adding a flavour kick to meals, this was so tasty and filling.
For dessert last night I tried a couple of the RAW Health Blissed Chocada Truffles:
These are very similar to CCK’s amazing fudge babies but with a much smoother texture, yummy!
Tonight I made the usual post body pump bowl of protein ice cream with a couple of scoops of Fruit-ein powder, water, ice, xanthan and guar gums and a topping of my strawberry and coconut rawnola:
Heaven in a bowl!
I’ve been experimenting with my work wardrobe again, liberating my wardrobe look No3:
Blush blazer: Next, white cotton blouse: vintage, floral scarf: New Look, woven belt: taken from a Miss Selfridge dress, khaki chinos: Primark, tan brogues: Top Shop, tan bag: H&M
Yes, I am a little obsessed with that blazer at the moment! I love it as it seems to complement so much in my wardrobe. I wouldn’t have usually worn my lovely vintage blouse for work, but in the name of liberating my wardrobe I decided to get it out. You can’t quite see it in this pic but the detailing on the front is so delicate and pretty.
So tomorrow I will be turning 29! I can’t believe that in one year I’ll be hitting 30, I’m actually quite looking forward to that milestone! I seem to have got a lot better as I’ve aged: I have so much more confidence, self esteem, maturity and self assurance than I did when I was younger, I can’t wait to reach my thirties as I think a lot of women really come into their own in that phase of their life.
Last year I made a special day of it and went to town and had a meal out which was lovely, but as I’ve been well and truly spoilt recently with my trip to Brighton and Kendal Calling what would actually be a treat for me now is a relaxing day at home! I have the day off and as a little something special I have booked myself in for a full body massage, I can’t wait! Other than that I will be chilling out and cooking myself some tasty food, which is exactly what I feel I need right now!
How do you like to celebrate your birthday? I always like to do something, even if it is just taking the day off. My 30th will be a whole different ball game though, I have big plans for that! If you had a free day to spend as you wished, what you do right now? I know my body, mind and bank balance will thank me for a chill day!
Before I head off I just wanted to remind everyone of the Cosmo Blog Awards. I think its a really great idea to show some support for all the blogs you love, especially as they now have a health, diet and fitness category. You can nominate any blog here.
