All signed up for Yoga!

Last night after I’d posted I had a major attack of the snackies – more frozen blueberries with soy milk, an egg white puff with almond butter and jam, 2 rice cakes with almond butter and jam, 8 squares of chilli dark chocolate and a tablespoon of peanut butter with dark chocolate chips(!) I don’t know what came over me I just couldn’t help myself. I don’t know if it was because my couscous didn’t really fill me or if I was bored or stressed or even if my body just needed it. Anyway, I’m not going to dwell on it, onward and upward!

This morning I had a lovely bowl of Total Greek Yoghurt with my apple, berry and cinnamon compote and some Dorset Cereals Muesli – I thought I’d try the Super High Fibre variety this morning.

I’m so in love with my compote, its not overly sweet and the apple still has lots of bite. I’ll be searching for cheap apples just so I can make this up again its been so delicious. I was really impressed with the Dorset Muesli – loads of big fat raisins, coconut shreds and lovely light flakes. Yum!

Mid morning I had more home made hummus with lots of carrot, cucumber and sugar snap peas for dipping.

Lunch was leftover tomato basil couscous with chicken and red pepper which I decided to warm up (its been so cold in the office today) I had it on top of some spinach. I also had an orange.

On my way to the gym I had a Beet It Shot

I had a lovely relaxed 4 mile run on the treadmill (no speed work – I’m trying to keep my legs fresh for Sunday!) Then I came home and did my Yoga for Runners download.

Dinner was a bowl of my Roast Tomato, Pepper and Chilli Soup along with 2 kallo rosemary crackers topped with the last of my home made hummus.

For desert I made a lovely chocolate coconut protein cake (1 egg white, scoop of chocolate whey, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, 2 tablespoons of apple and pear puree - I use baby food!, teaspoon of coconut combined and microwaved on high for two minutes)

I also had 2 chopped apples and a chopped nectarine.

Over the last few days I’ve been starting to think about what I’d like to focus on with regards to my fitness after I’ve completed the Great North Run. I really like the idea of introducing more Yoga or Pilates in to my routine. I did some research and I’ve managed to secure a place in a beginners Ashanga Yoga Class which is taking place during October and November at the Newcastle Buddhist Centre. I’m so happy I’ve managed to find a good class. My gym does offer classes but they seem to be on a rolling basis and I preferred the idea of starting a fresh class where all the participants are at a similar level. I haven’t done a class on my own in a long time so I’m a little nervous but really looking forward to it! Have you tried a Yoga class before? What did you think?

Do you go along to fitness classes on your own? The classes that my gym offer seem to be full of people that all know one another and I’m not confident enough to go along by myself! I guess I need to give myself a push.

Thanks for all your comments on my blender dilemma. Oh how I wish I could afford a Vita Mix! Unfortunately there’s just no way I can afford one right now. I think I’m going wait until the end of the month but at the moment I like the look of the Kenwood or John Lewis models. At least one of these could keep me going until I can afford a Vita!

Hope all of your weeks are going well, I can’t wait for the weekend already!
