7 things about me
What a thoroughly rubbish day its been weather wise. Isn’t it August? Its felt more like a day in October here in North East England!
It was so dark when I got up I had to really motivate myself to go the gym. Before I went I hopped on the scales and I’m the same as last week. Considering my birthday eats this week I’m more than happy with that! I did 20 minutes of intervals on cross trainer and step machine then my strength routine focusing on my upper body. I’m going to have to post a pick of my arms and back, I’m actually quite proud of what I’ve achieved, I have some nice definition when all there used to be was flab!
I had breakfast ready and waiting for me when I got home. I’d decided to give overnight oats another bash. I knew I wanted oats and I had some melon to eat but melon and warm oats, I don’t think so! Before I left for the gym I mixed some oats with half a tablespoon of chia seeds and water then left it in the fridge. When I came back I added a scoop of vanilla whey and then used it to top some chopped melon and strawberries.
It had a lovely cool and creamy taste.
Lunch was a bowl of Summer Bean Stew followed by some strawberries and 4 mini plums.
Mid afternoon I had the last of my cheezy dip with cucumber and sugar snap peas.
When I got home from work I had an attack of the hunger monster so I tried to shut it up with a lovely brae burn apple.
I also ended up eating the last 5 mini plums! At least they satisfied me, I didn’t feel ready for dinner until much later than goodness!
For dinner I made a delicious pitta pizza using a food doctor wholemeal seeded pitta topped with tomato sauce, roast aubergine and yellow pepper, red onion, basil and mozzarella. I served it with a side salad of spinach, rocket and alfalfa sprouts.
Desert was inspired by a comment from lovely blog reader Joolz – I chopped and microwaved a chopped banana, topped with cinnamon and then added two mini frozen chocolate avocado cups.
This was delish! Love the hot / cold combo, plus the frozen avocado cups remind me of Reeces Peanut Butter cups which unfortunately led to me spending 5 minutes with a spoon and my jar of Dark Chocolate Dreams while waiting for the kettle to boil, I have a problem, its impossible to just have a teaspoon of that stuff!
So what plans do we all have for the weekend? I actually have a bit of a free day tomorrow for once and then on Sunday me and the hubby are hitting up Ikea and other DIY establishments in preparation for home week!
I’m also planning a long run in the morning but I’m a bit worried about this weather. If your a runner do you change your scheduled runs if the weather is bad? I have some bad weather clothing but if its torrential rain then I’m worried my feet will be soaking, plus its just not very pleasant running in the wind and rain. I was thinking of taking a ‘step back’ week some time soon anyway before I attempt the big 1-3.
