Two Years…

Today is a very special day, two years ago I was in Italy getting married… yes, today is my 2nd wedding anniversary! I can’t believe I’ve been married for so long. As its a special day I’ve had a few treats, but more on that later… and this is a bit of a long photo filled post, hope you don’t mind!

I started the day well with a 4 mile run in 38 minutes, I had been planning to do some speed work but I really wasn’t feeling it this morning, I’m just glad I got out the door to be honest! When I came back I did 20 minutes of Yoga for Runners to stretch me out and relax. Breakfast was chocolate protein yoghurt (chocolate whey mixed with fromage frais) layered with fresh strawberries and blueberries and topped with a sprinkling of grape nuts and wheat germ.

As the hubby is still a little under the weather, and as we have treated ourselves to a few meals out recently we decided to just spend the day together watching DVD’s and making our own food. I decided to make my favourite Chilli, Lime, Ginger Chicken Stir Fry without the cashews but with soba noodles! For the veggies I used pak choy, red pepper, carrot, spring onion and sugar snap peas.

The hubby had a giant pizza – his favourite! My first treat of the day was this vanilla bean ice cream sundae with dark chocolate dreams peanut butter sauce (tablespoon of dark chocolate dreams mixed with a little warm soy milk) and flaked almonds.

This was so tasty! I was glad that we treated ourselves. I had this times two!

As I had ate so much at lunch time I just had a hazelnut and cinnamon coffee sweetened with agave syrup instead of a mid afternoon snack. For dinner I just kept it light again with a bowl of Courgette and Watercress Soup.

For desert I chopped two small granny smith apples and topped with unsweetened soy milk, a tablespoon of oats and some goji berries.

Random desert but it was just what I fancied, not too calorific and tasty.

Second anniversary treat of the day is Amaretto! I drank this a lot while we were in Italy (mixed with cola tastes like cherry coke!) for our wedding so it seems appropriate that it gets drank this evening. I’m going to mix it with this apple, grape and raspberry juice, yum!

Home week – Bathroom

The bathroom is definitely my least favourite room in the house. We are stuck with an 80’s style blue suite, but as I’ve said before we can’t change it so we try and work with it! Here’s a few pics:

What we did: refreshed all the paint work, re painted the side panelling of the bath from dark blue to white, replaced shower curtain and light pull, re sealed around the bath, removed old blind, added a new toilet roll holder and fresh cream towels, added new accessories such as scented candles and heart decoration. Everything else was existing. I use the white wicker basket to store spare beauty products and extra towels. I’ve tried to use pink as an accent colour to the blue using the orchid (which I’ve had for a year, it just keeps coming back to life!) candles and my make up bag.

Painting the side of the bath and removing the blind has made a huge difference, the room feels so much bigger and brighter! Again, I’m really happy with what we have achieved on a tight budget.

Before I go I hope you don’t mind me reminiscing a bit. I know there’s a couple of blog readers getting married soon, I hope you enjoy these pics!

We got married in Sorrento in Italy in the Cloister of San Francesco. I can honestly say it was the perfect day. We just had a few close family with us and then had a big party when we came home. You will notice I was a lot bigger back then (James was too, he’s lost a couple of stone himself since then), you girls looking to lose weight for your wedding are definitely doing the right thing! At the time I was happy with how I was so I don’t mind looking back at these pics, and I certainly don’t feel any regret. My wonderful husband James loved me then and loves me now, bless him!

Its traditional in Italy to walk from the wedding venue to the reception so we walked through the streets of Sorrento, everyone we passed was congratulating us in Italian it was great!

Here’s to many more years of happy marriage! x
