Making an effort and pretty dresses

I know I’ve been a bit moany this week but my word I am so glad the weekend is here. I’ve tried not to dwell on things too much on the blog but this week has been tough. I’ve been struggling with PMT from hell, mood swings and generally feeling like I want to punch everyone in the face. I am feeling much better this evening knowing that I have a lovely weekend laid out before me :-)

This morning I was up early again for the gym. I needed to be in work for 9 so I just did 30 minutes of intervals on the cross trainer, step machine and bike followed by abs and core for a total 45 minute workout. After that it was time for a smoothie:

I blended up some spring greens and half a bag of mixed green leaves with frozen cherries, beetroot, chocolate sun warrior, raw cacao, maca, ice, water and the gums for a lovely thick and creamy smoothie that I topped with some Dorset Cereal Tasty Flakes and a large spoonful of smooth drippy peanut butter.

For lunch I decided to go with some Clearspring brown rice ramen noodle soup in miso and ginger flavour accompanied by a mountain of chopped veggies including red and yellow pepper, carrot and sugar snaps. I also had an orange and a clemintine:

Mid afternoon I snacked some raw chai almond balls then headed to the hairdressers for a trim, well I say a trim, she’s cut it way too short! I can’t even tie it back! Luckily my hair grows fast!

Dinner was some of my veggie chilli from the freezer served with millet cooked in veg stock, garlic, ginger, asparagus, purple sprouting broccoli and some mixed green leaves with shoyu:

For a quickly thrown together meal this was pretty damn good!

Dessert was two chopped pink lady apples topped with tofu yoghurt and cinnamon:

Absolutely delicious!

I’ve also realised something this week – I feel like I have really been letting myself go! Most days I just feel like I chuck on whatever clothes are clean, I haven’t done my nails for weeks and I generally just haven’t felt like I’ve made much of an effort recently. I did dye my hair last week but only cause the greys were threatening to take over and the only reason I ended up at the hairdressers today was cause the appointment had been booked months ago! I know there’s nothing wrong with not doing your nails or your hair or whatever, but for me it can really impact on how I feel. So this weekend I’m going to get myself sorted, organise my wardrobe and all my shoes, do my nails and get myself pulled together! Does having your nails and hair done make you feel good or are you not bothered?

I’ve also been thinking about getting something to wear when we go to New York in May and I really fancy a nice comfortable tea dress I can wear with my leather hooded jacket and ankle boots. I’m bidding on a few dresses on eBay but here’s a few nice ones I’ve seen that are available on the high street:

Do you like tea dresses? I don’t like to look too girly so I usually wear them with big boots or trainers for a more quirky look.

Tomorrow me and James are off to town – I’m going to try and get fitted for some new running shoes as well as my usual trip to the market. Other than that it will be seeing the family, my long run, chilling out and watching the London Marathon! Good luck to Phil who is running it! Are you planning on watching the marathon? Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
