Birthday Haul
Hello there everyone, hope your day is going well! Mine has been busy but good.
Today and yesterday have been pretty similar days eats and exercise wise. Yesterdays breakfast was blueberries with 0% fat greek yoghurt (I treated myself to by favourite Fage) with jumbo oats, wheat germ and honey comb.
Today’s was a bowl of strawberries with date, apple and fig Mornflake muesli and soymilk.
First time I’ve tried the unsweetened soy milk with muesli. Usually its just mixed in a smoothie or a little bit is added to porridge so I can’t taste it. I was pleasantly surprised by how creamy it was!
For snacks I made some of Averies cheezy dip (I followed the recipe but used cashews instead of hemp seeds) and had it with veggies for dipping.
This is packed with healthy fats and protein from the sunflower seeds, cashews and nutritional yeast and has a lovely strong spicy flavour which is really filling.
Lunches have been Courgette and Watercress Soup:
Smoked almond sesame tofu salad with little gem, spinach, orange pepper, sugar snap peas, red onion, cucumber and alfalfa sprouts:
This was also yesterday’s dinner! I’ve also been having sliced kiwi with lunch:
Pre gym snackage has been a nakd coco loco bar:
Today I was very pleasantly surprised when we all stopped for a tea break at work to get together for my birthday and they got me some fresh fruit instead of cake. They know me so well!
I had pineapple, watermelon and mango, this bowl x 2!
For tonight’s dinner I griddled some slices of aubergine until tender then topped with a tablespoon of tomato sauce, a basil leaf and some mozzarella then popped under the grill for 5 minutes. I served the aubergine with a rocket and spinach salad.
So simple, tasty and quick to put together!
Yesterdays desert was the return of protein goo – 1 scoop of chocolate whey mixed with a little soy milk and some natural peppermint flavouring then topped with a few cacao nibs.
Loved the nibs with this – they add a lovely crunch (and the extra antioxidants too!)
This evenings desert was a protein shake made with a scoop of peanut butter swirl spirutein, soy milk and ice cubes.
I also had my usual evening apple plus three little sweet plums.
Exercise wise I was at the gym yesterday and today for identical workouts! – 45 minutes of intervals on step machine, cross trainer and bike followed by abs, tricep dips and half push ups. Looking forward to my strength session in the morning for a bit of a change!
Birthday shopping haul
I gave myself a little shopping budget to spend on my birthday since shopping is one of my favourite pass times! I took the opportunity to snap a few shots while I was trying things on -
Blue polka dot sheer blouse from River Island:
Floral Military detail bolero (as worn on my birthday night out) from River Island:
Linen Striped Shirt from River Island worn with skinny tan leather belt from Top shop:
Dusty pink coloured oversized draped blazer – Top shop:
Black ‘tear drop’ print tee from French Connection:
Grey cross body bag – H&M
I also picked up a few bits and pieces -
HOME decoration, room sprays, purple plastic martini glasses – all Sainsburys, Rainforest shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner (thanks to Sarah for her review of these products), wild cherry and coconut body butter – all Body Shop, Barry M nail paints in Mushroom and Berry and Vaseline intensive care body lotion – all from Boots.
I also bought a box of Tea Pigs gorgeous Peppermint and Liquorice tea. If you have a sweet tooth try this tea out it is amazing. I’ve been having a big mug after dinner on an evening to satisfy sweet cravings I’ve been having with my PMS!
I was quite surprised how much I bought from River Island as usually I wouldn’t have gone in but I really love the three tops I got. I definitely enjoy saving my money up and then having one big spree rather than buying little things here and there. Much more fun! I think I’ll be trying to use this approach to keep me out of the red in the future. Do you prefer to save then have a spree or do you just buy things as and when you fancy?
So glad its Friday tomorrow. We have next week off, and as I’ve mentioned we’ll be doing some work around the flat and hopefully having some time to chill too. Hope your week has been good, not long till the weekend now! x
