Free Rhubarb!

Yesterday I managed to score some free home grown rhubard that my Mam had got from my Uncle's allotment so I thought I would have some with my porridge. I chopped it up and cooked it with a little water and a teaspoon of sugar until it had softened. I then added a little agave syrup for extra sweeteness and added it to a bowl of porridge made with water, hazelnut and almond rice milk and topped it with flaked almonds.

I had it with a cup of Tea Pigs Mao Feng Green tea, delicious!
While crossing a few things off my weekend to do list I snacked on an apple and a little bit of dark chocolate I came across while sorting out my cupboards, I just couldn't resist a little nibble.

I did some tae bo followed by my strength workout and then I felt like doing a little bit of yoga for a good stretch so I popped on Davinas 'Davina Fit' DVD and did the short yoga session.

Lunch was my favourite salad: cos lettuce, spinach, cucumber, red onion, grated carrot, beetroot and some feta cheese.

I just love this salad, I can't get enough of feta cheese. I then had a chocolate cherry green monster in a bowl - spinach, frozen cherries and a scoop of chocolate whey with a little hazelnut and almond rice milk.

Heaven in a bowl!
After I'd tackled my cleaning I had a mid afternoon snack of greek yoghurt with more of my rhubard with a little drizzle of agave syrup.

This tasted so good, I should really eat rhubard more often when its in season, I'll have to try and get some more of the free home grown stuff!

For dinner I made me and the hubby some turkey in gravy with steamed brocolli and savoy cabbage and sweet potato for me and normal potato for the hubby. I just quickly fried off some turkey steak cut into strips then cooked it in some hot water with gravy granules until it thickened and the turkey was cooked. Cooking it this way seems to keep the turkey nice and tender.

For desert I had more heaven in a bowl in the form of banana, chocolate and peanut butter softserve! I blended two frozen bananas with some chocolate rice milk and some cocoa powder and then added a spoonful of chunky peanut butter.

How lovely and creamy does that look? This tasted fab!
Drinks - water, green tea, decaf tea

Buying Vintage

Hi everyone, hope Monday has been good to you. I've had a pretty good day for a Monday - I've been powering through my to do list at work!

Breakfast was a wonderful green monster with spinach, frozen banana, unsweetened soy milk, a heaped teaspoon of crunchy peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of oats and a teaspoon of maca powder all topped off with some grape nuts, flaked almonds and goji berries.

This is the first time I've tried soy milk. I saw it in the supermarket yesterday and decided to give it a try. I have no idea why I haven't tried it before now. I couldn't really taste it in the smoothie but it did the job!

Mid morning I had fromage frais with some of my orange roasted rhubard and a few flaked almonds.

Lunch was a luke warm bowl of Brocolli, Pea and Mint Soup (I couldn't be bothered to walk back down to the microwave to heat it up more!) and some strawberries.

I had a little home made fuel bar before heading to the gym after work.

I love these chewy fudgey little squares!

I did an hour of intervals on the cross trainer, step machine and bike and then 3 sets of my usual abs moves. I finished off with 10 mins on the bike reading a magazine to cool down seeing as I had time before picking the hubby up. I was shattered! I'm still managing to keep up on the higher resistance levels so I'm happy with that.

For dinner I decided to make a frittata. I used 4 egg whites and 2 eggs with a red onion, a red pepper, a baby courgette and a good bit of grated edam cheese. I had 2 slices with some mixed salad leaves, spinach, cucumber and grated carrot.

Delish!

I've been dying to try out some of my Spirutein protein powder so I decided that desert would be a protein smoothie made with a scoop of Nutty Berry Spirutein, soy milk and some frozen blueberries.

The soy milk is definitely growing on me, this was delicious and really creamy! I also had an apple.

I was very chuffed earlier when I bagged this lovely vintage white cotton blouse on ebay for just £5 including postage!
I'm hoping it will arrive before the end of the week so I can wear it when I go to Brighton. It will look lovely with some skinny jeans and I can wear it in the autumn under a little cardigan. Have you ever bought second hand / vintage clothing? A couple of years ago I had an ebay phase and got a few bits of second hand clothing but most of the items were a bit rubbish once you saw them in the 'flesh'. I hope this is ok when I receive it! I always admire women who can totally work the vintage look. I guess thats what I'm trying to emulate - it can certainly be a bit kinder on the pocket as well as being more environmentally friendly (I cringe when I think of the amount of clothes I've chucked or charity shopped this last year). Buying good second hand and vintage is something I really want to master!
